Youth programs
BCTA president, Paul Sullivan, has agreed to coach the USTA’s Junior Team Tennis program again this summer. Junior Team Tennis is an excellent way to gain match experience outside of tournaments and high school tennis. In addition to Paul, James Crutchfield, Pro and Juniors Coach at the KTAC, will help organize drills, match play, and coach the team. Andrew Block, Steve Curtis, Mary and Doug McCombs will help out as volunteers. The team or teams, depending on interest, would be run through and with the support of the Bainbridge Community Tennis Association.
Practices will start in June after school is out. Match play for the JTT season runs during July and ends at the sectional tournament on August 1st and 3nd at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center, just outside of Portland Oregon.
The cost for participation in JTT for the entire season for the players is minimal. BCTA covers a significant portion of the costs for staff and supplies.
The primary goal for the JTT program is to help every player reach personal milestones, sharpening technical skills to building self-confidence, and a lifelong love for the game.
In order to form a team, we need four girls and four boys. The format of play when we have a match is boys/girls singles, boys/girls doubles, and mixed doubles.
