Kids 10-12 years old practice twice a week after school in their gym. Full size nets, 25 inch racquets (provided) and low compression balls are used. Groundstroke, volley and serve techniques are taught in drills and practiced in games and competitive play. A doubles tournament is held at the end of the season.

These programs fill up quickly. Join BCTA (see tab above) for advance registration privileges.

Elementary School Tennis Kids 7-10 years old practice once a week after school in their own gym at Blakely, Odyssey, Ordway and Wilkes, Jan-March. Junior tennis racquets (provided), small nets and foam balls are used to play games and learn tennis skills. The four elementary schools meet for a tournament at the end of the season. Having fun is heavily emphasized.

Play with Your Kids

Often the best way children learn tennis is to play with their parent(s). BCTA owns child appropriate nets (can be assembled in minutes on court), slow-moving tennis balls, and 23 and 25 inch racquets. Call (206) 855-0632 if you are a BCTA member and would like to borrow child friendly equipment.
